Has anyone ever read a book where the vampire is trying to become human again?

I've been thinking about writing a book like that only the main character lives back in the victorian era and wants to become a human to have friends. I'm thinking of making this a side project ( already full with another novella) for if I ever have writers block. Also maybe should I have the character journey to Transylvania to ask the great Count Dracula for advice or maybe she's sent their on a quest to become human again.
Oh well not sure if I should proceed this idea since vampire's are cliche even though she can burn up in the light, has no reflection, hates holiness and everything the traditional vampires have. I guess that's why she'll want to become human again.

I say you should go for it, but stick with the original vampires, not like twilight ones.
And i think it should be a big good vs. evil book (because in the original Dracula sold his soul to the Devil for immortality) I would say yes, make your character go to Dracula for help, and have Dracula agree to help him, then have Dracula betray him, so the character then has to escape from Dracula and the Devil, therefore defying the evilness of his state and becoming human.

    I hope i helped!

If you ever feel like having someone read your book, i would love to! :)

hmmm…that sounds really interesting! theres so many books about humans trying to become vampires but i’ve never heard anthing like that. you could make it like he/she hates what he/she does (killing people and stuff) and she tries so many ways to kill herself but cant. she envies humans because … and really wants to become a human again.
    hope i helped!

Cirque Du Freak is kind of like that but not completely and it’s set in this time. But your idea sounds really good, the only thing is that vampires are overrated now due to the worse thing that could ever happened to literature. Anyways, write it and wait a few years to publish it. You can also have it like she tried to kill someone she loved like her mom or brother. Cause in most novels people become vampires and they never hurt their love ones which is unrealistic. I say give it a try.

It is original, and I absolutely freaking love it. Don’t listen to those vampire-hating bitches who go around whining about how everything involving vampires is a crappy Twilight knockoff, they’re just flamers with no life. Definitely publish once it’s done.

"Mr. Darcy’s Diary" by Amanda Grange takes characters from Jane Austen’s "Pride and Prejudice" but gives it a vampire twist. In the novel, Mr. Darcy is a vampire who falls in love and marries Elizabeth Bennett. In doing so, he desperately yearns to become human again. He and Lizzie then journey into the realm of vampires and tries to find a cure for his vampirism.
