Does anyone know any non-romance vampire/werewolf stories?

I like vampire and werewolf novels, but every time i find one, it turns out to be really romantic and girly. I've read the demonata and cirque du freak novels so maybe that can give you an idea of what i'm in to. thanks!

I don’t know if you will consider these "really girly" but Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series has a gritty female with mental hearing capabilities who falls for a vampire since she can’t "hear" vampires then gets pulled into the power politics of the vampires and other creatures with some xxx sex in about 6 books. Patricia Briggs has character Mercy Thompson in a sequence of 3 books - she can change into a Coyote whenever she wants but was raised by werewolves in Montana and is a VW & other German auto mechanic in eastern Washington as problems arise with the local fae, werewolf and vampire population - no significant sex and "romance" conflict is more of a power struggle kind of thing.
Both sets of books involve small town communities in a roughly contemporary USA where one or more of the "unnatural" communities has decided to "come out"
May well be in library. http://users.ticnet.com/mikefirth/favorite.htm#HARRIS

Dracula is a romance. Go to Barnes&Noble and pick out some traditional folklore story books. My cousin used to have a few big books of traditional folklore, spreading the globe from Russia to Romania to Native American stories to Traditional American stories, to Japan to China to Africa to South America. Many of them involved werewolves and vampires. We used to read them outloud to each other, they were pretty interesting.

Twilight is a HUGE romantic, don’t even give that book a second glance.

    I don’t know a novel but I know a movie.
Ginger snaps. It’s a defiantly cheap movie but got some really good acting in it.
The only romance leads to her finding out she just wants to kill
besides that being sisters is the only girly thing (but they’re kinda emo so not so much)

Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett. It’s a comedy/satire.

"The vampires of Überwald have come out of the casket, and this time they don’t plan to be back indoors by dawn. They love garlic."

omfg i love the cirque du freak series. they are the best books i have ever read…i finished the 11th and i’m going to get the 12th soon. i hate how darren shan left off the 11th with a cliffhanger. and i cant believe steve leonard and darren’s sister "did it"
