Are there any good vampire movies with Catholicism in them?
Or, just any good vampire movies I should see. (Have seen Blade and Interview with the Vampire and Dracula 2000.)
Ah, forgot about From Dusk til Dawn and the Lost Boys! Those were good.

Catholic vampires wear black and have pasty features, but that ain’t blood they’re sucking. John Carpenter hasn’t made any good movies after Halloween. Interview was a crappy book made into a worse film. Bela Lugosi is the end of the vampire story, why bother with the rest.

I can’t think of any movies, but if you like to read, check out the Anita Blake novels by Laurel K Hamilton. They are about a Catholic vamp hunter/necromancer. They are pretty cool, and a fun read.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It gets a lot of criticism but I love it.

Sure. You should see "Van Helsing" with Hugh Jackman in it.
Also, there is a vampire movie that has James Woods in it but I can’t for the life of me right now remember the name of the movie.

None specifically Catholic — just a list of my faves:
Near Dark (I don’t think the word "vampire" is used in this at all)
Lost Boys
Fright Night ("but you have to believe" (in the cross))
From Dusk to Dawn (if you want graphic stuff and dark humor)
Love at First Bite (if you want comedy but not much else)
Vampires (with James Woods) (dirty action)

Well, don’t folks try to hold up a cross to fend off the vampire ? I’d say that’s pretty Catholic !

I second Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It is kind of cheesy (with Keanu Reeves even) but it is my favorite vampire movie.
And I very highly recommend the book, Dracula, by Bram Stoker. It was the first vampire story in modern fiction, and it inspired almost every vampire movie.

john carpenter’s vampires-there’s a scene that looks crazy a vampire actually praying and given sacramental wine
February 6th, 2010 at 11:53 pm
deffinately Bram Stockers Dracula. This is what you are looking for as far as Catholism. They use holy water and crosses ans xercism. Yeah it was a good one!

Dracula.

One called Vampires by John Carpenter. It has James Woods and Daniel Baldwin in it. It’s pretty good. Dusk til Dawn. It has George Clooney in it. It is the best Vampire movie of all in my humble opinion. Bye
February 6th, 2010 at 11:53 pm

A vampire movie with some Catholicism ties is Van Helsing. Underworld and Underwold: Evolution are two good vampire/werewolf movies, also.

It seems everything vampire is related to religion. So let’s see…
Bram Stoker’s Dracula (aka Francis Ford Coppola)
Dracula Dead and Loving It
Van Helsing (has some cool vampire scenes)
Underworld 1 and 2
The Lost Boys
Salem’s Lot
February 6th, 2010 at 11:53 pm
John Carpenter’s Vampires has pretty heavy Catholic element.
February 6th, 2010 at 11:53 pm
If you are looking for a shocking film, other than Vampire films, but with strong Catholicism themes I’d recommend Peter Mullan’s Magdalene Sisters. actually, the nuns in this film are just as scary as vampires!
